Better Together - 40 Days of Community

Our congregation completed a Home Group campaign in the fall of 2006. This guided Bible Study was on the second book in the Rick Warren 40 Days of Purpose Trilogy. With each devotion came an opportunity to journal, so I posted it here on the site. I've since started going back through the comments checking for errors and adjusting my wording. Eventually, I will finish the entries for the remaining lessons.

We're Compelled To Love God's Family

This section starts a journey of understanding the role of Love in the Christian life. As I look at the lessons in this section of the book, I'm compelled to recall that without Christ in my life, my capacity to love is non-existant... but over time, Christ's Love is made perfect in me.

We're Commissioned To Reach Out Together

This section of lessons focuses on outreach. As Christians, need to be aware of the fact that we are being watched. Many people will not accept hypocracy... or lack of genuine behavior. In this commission, we deal with issues of building genuine friendships as we reach out through hospitality and by helping those in need.

We're Chosen to Fellowship Together

Commitment, respect, support, patience, and honesty are the high points of this section as it discusses how we ought to behave within the body of believers. Christian fellowship is a huge part of everyday living, especially when you consider the burdens we all face... it helps to have a brother or sister you can count on.

We're Connected To Grow Together

Everyone has experiences that contribute to where they are in their spiritual growth. For that reason, no one is really at the same place in life. This section of lessons teaches us how we are interconnected in the spiritual journey of life, and how together we can build each other up.

We're Called To Serve Together

The example Jesus set for us is to be a servant to everyone. This section of lessons show us how to work on developing that kind of servant heart.
